I learned what a quad chat is and how it works. I also learned that it is a type of genre. A quad chat has 4 sections. In a nutshell, they are: Do, Plan, Check, Act. Even though a quad chat can be used in many different ways, it is helpful to the writer as a genre itself.
According to Jordana Hall, reading is a two-part structure: seeing and understanding. Part of this structure can be defined as a visual format or layout of a genre. Anything that composes an article is part of its structure, which includes front and text sizes as well as pictures and how it is set up.
These topics are useful in wrtiing because it gives a better understanding of how to make an article more appealing and interesting for the reader.

Genres: Textbooks vs. Text Messages vs. Advertisements
When I read a textbook, I use different strategies than reading a text message from my friend. This is because the textbook uses formal writing while the text message is informal. Reading a textbook is difficult and takes more concentration. A text message is usually brief while a textbook is longer with much more information. I read advertisements different from both text messages and textbooks. When I read advertisements, I usually start by looking at the pictures and creativity rather than reading the text. I do this because advertisements catch your attention with pictures and artwork before being informative like a textbook/ text message.
