From Outside In

1) The features that make this piece of writing powerful are how the article is presented and the descriptive vocabulary the writer uses. The article is presented as if Barbara is talking comfortably to the reader. It is a very easy article to read. The article is descriptive and easy to picture what is going on. When she describes in which type of english she is speaking, I always knew exactly what she meant.
2) Some things especially valuable about this genre is that it reflects on real life and it is a true story. It makes people aware of how her life was as a child and how she grew up learning English from the outside in. She started out speaking black english and as she aged, she learned the importance and significant difference in when to speak improper english vs. standard english.
